Jaguar Paw real name Edgar Modiba from Limpopo, Phalaborwa, his love of deep house music it all started in the early 90′s influenced by DJ’s at work. In 2001 he went to Technikon pretoria were he enrolled as a student while residing at Tempo residence in sunnyside. He met the likes of the late AJ (Art Jones Bukenya) at res and that’s when he started to out grow his love of house music.The name Jaguar was given to him by his res mates in 2001 at the club called carnalita in pretoria during the Oskido’s church grooves vol.1 lunch party. Jaguar paw came after by Lil Khuze the owner of cafe del khuze taken from the movie Apocolypto because of the great work he puts together when he is behind the decks as a way of comparing him with the fast running starring Jaguar paw from the movie
After completing his studies in 2005 he started attending lots of parties around pretoria following Dj’s around to satisfy his passion of deep house music. He went around playing at parties with his friend DJ Cool who taught him the tactics of deejaying that’s when he was started being recognised as a great DJ.
He met with DJ Miggs at house 22 while sharing the stage and they got along beause of the same taste of music they engaged into. He became a residence DJ at cafe del khuze in 2009 and in 2010 Jaguar Paw started his series of mixes called Deep Forest as a way of reaching out people globally who loves deep house music. He then featured DJ miggs on the deep forest as a guest DJ. The idea of creating an official deepforetsSA.com website came along because he thought it will be best to share the good music with deep house lovers out there in the world and to create a trade mark as well. He was approached by ID radio based in the UK to host radio show because of the good work he achieved with Deepforest mixes. To all those who know Jaguar paw they will always say where is Jaguar paw and the answer would be he is in the deep
forest playing good music all way.
From the year 2011 up to date it has seen Jaguar Paw reputation increasing drastically he is now ranked amoungst the best djs to ever hit South Africa as Country with a rising reputation which has seen him share the stage with many international dj’s such as Ralf Gum , Rocco and he was also involved in bringing one of the best house producers in the US known as Reelsoul . Jaguar Pawn has pushed himself and the label DeepForestSA to greater heights one could never know if there will ever be a way of stop his strong force this has also seen him going as far as playing out of the country likes of Namibia & Swaziland soon to hit Lesotho . He is one of a few who makes the art of being a Dj look beautiful
